What does it take to be an ICT student?

Few weeks to go, we will leave this school that accommodated and accepted us. In this 4 years of staying, it is still worth it because every single day makes our high school life memorable.

And as one of the ICT students of ISNHS, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our teacher, Mrs. Evelyn Vera Cruz for teaching us those lessons that really helped us to widen our knowledge. It is a fact that those different tags really coiled up my mind, despite of the difficulties I admit that it helped me a lot. Another thing is the world of Photoshop, it made me so happy because I love photo editing. But then there’s a feeling of awkwardness, so I need to explore it furthermore.
I admire those students who can make awesome outputs, it made me so envious because of those things that they’ve done. It is a great challenge for me to make one of those beautiful outputs like them.

I’m very thankful to those people that I mingle with, teachers that taught us. May our success,  be your success too.

My Dream, My Future

Feel free and explore the world beyond our comfort zones. There are so many things that I want to reach in the future. Dreams that I want to became real and plan to be successful.

A girl named Joan Pauline Pimentel has the dream to become an accountant someday and if God permits I would also like to manage my own bank as well. This is one of the things that I really dream of. A dream that is really hard to achieve, but I will not get lose from this hindrance. Instead I will make use of this challenge as my inspiration to pursue my dreams. And I know with all my hard work, perseverance and dedication, I can make it. And for those people who will always be there for me. I’ll offer this to you.

Have FAITH in GOD, surely He will always guide us in our way.

Kannawidan Ylocos Festival

The Kannawidan Ylocos Festival on January 29 to February 5, 2012 drew local and foreign tourists as more entertaining events had been included in the celebrations.

Through this Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, we are preserving and sustaining our old traditions, attractive products and practices as we are also promoting our tourism industry.

Our province has a rich heritage and unique cultures that need to be preserved for the next generations. However, many of these traditions, songs, dances and other Ilocano cultures were not already familiar to the younger generations due to the influence of the television, computer and internet.

But, through our Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, these traditions, customs and cultures are revived to become more entertaining to give more fun and attractions to the visiting tourists in the province.  As an official annual festival of the province our tourism industry was enhanced and helped boost the demand of our products, more job opportunities and livelihood opportunities were crated and more income for our people were generated.

My reflection

It's been six months since we started to enter the Ilocos Sur National High School. And as we leave this 3rd Grading Period there are so many things to be remembered.

We have learned many things about html tags; their uses and how to use it accurately. Since we had our Christmas vacation, our projects lost in our minds, like the making of our web designs. But before that we first made our scrapbook about the tourism in Vigan City. We visited many tourist spots and it's fun because I was with my classmates and considered as my friends. We are very proud of what we submitted but we came to think of our web designs. We don't have much anytime left, so we decided to have a sleep over in our house. Thank goodness we finished it before the deadline. But it must have been better if we did it long ago.

I really learned a lot from our topics, I hope there's more.

Keeping in Mind our Mother Tongue

Wherever an Ilocano has gone, his language has gone with him being enriched by every experience he has encountered.  Iloco is a language of unsurpassed beauty. The existing dictionaries have only scraped the surface of the wealth of words that are available to the skilled orator or the proficient writer. The grammars that have been written have only begun to turn the key which will unlock the intricate complexities of its syntax.
Iloco is a language with a heritage to be proud of.  Not only is Iloco a language with a great ancestry, it is a language which can have a great future. Its vitality can be measured by the ever expanding volume  of  literature  that  is  being  produced  in  the  language.    Novels, plays, and poetry by Ilocano writers must rank among the greatest in the land.
I'm very proud that I am an Ilocano, and I also proud and to promise that I will keep in mind our Mother tongue

New Year, New ME..

Even when it is not possible to change anything else for the better, you can always change yourself for the better. Even in the most desperate situations, when no other option is available, you always can decide upon your own attitude. Just as it is entirely possible to be miserable in even the most pleasant surroundings, so too is it possible to be positive and effective in the most difficult circumstances. Always bear in mind that your attitude is whatever you decide it is going to be.

So why would you ever want to go through so much as a single moment with a negative, defeated attitude? There is simply nothing of value that it can accomplish. On the other hand, when you choose a positive focus, even the setbacks and disappointments can end up working in your favor. For you will be open to the positive possibilities that do surely exist in those seemingly hopeless situations.

The hope is there, the way forward is there, when you make up your mind to see it and live it. When life is stubbornly negative, keep your attitude positive. When nothing else will change for the better, change your own thoughts for the better. And you'll soon see everything else following positively along.

Christmas Spirit

Christmas is best enjoyed when it isn't centered on decorations, gifts, or festivities, but when love is at its core. Love is the essence of Christmas. Christmas should mean taking quality time with your family and friends. It's about cherishing and celebrating the love you share. Sadly, love can’t lose amidst the Christmas hustle and bustle. Sometimes it's covered up by the decorations and gifts, the endless shopping, and the Christmas dinner and parties.

Christmas is a time of festivities, but there's much more to it than that. This Christmas season, we should take time for love. If you do, you'll be giving Me a wonderful gift, and you'll make it possible for Me to give you special gifts this year as well. Celebrate love as the main feature of your holiday celebrations. The festive decorations, the scrumptious food, the many gifts, most of those will fade into oblivion, lost among the memories of many Christmases; but the love that you'll have shared and nurtured will live on forever. Love means making time for others, even if you end up with fewer gifts and less than perfect Christmas events.
”Love All, Spend Less, Give More.” The true essence of Christmas relies not on the gifts which commands you to spend more but on the love and unity that each one of us should build. Spend less on gifts and more on relationships!

Equality leads to Progress

Equality is an ideal situation that, for various reasons, does not exist in any society in the world today.  It is a social state of affairs in which all people within specific group have the same status in certain respect.  Equality includes equal rights and equal opportunities and obligations and it also involves the whole of society.

Gender discrimination towards women and girls is widespread in all country.  Women are being treated unequal, they are being harassed, and they are being abused and disrespected.  What they don't know is that women can do what men can do, they are strong like a men.  And I can give a proof to my statement, a number of who women have fought alongside their fellow men in the liberation struggles.  They have contributed a lot in our country, in the progress of the economy.  Women are as hardworking as men.  They can also be a good leader.  And they play a major role in our society, in our families.  For me, women must not be treated unequal; they must be treated justly in families, workplaces, public life and the Church.

Men should be more involved in promoting women’s rights.  Men should not be underestimating the ability of women.  A woman deserves a right treatment.  They deserve to be acknowledged when they’ve done a good deed or a good thing in our country.  Everyone must be treated equally.

Change things for the better

People everywhere go through various experiences in their lives. Every experience affects a person in some way. The resulting effects can be good, bad, or a combination of both. Many aspects of my life have influenced my personality and the way that I live. Breaking my leg influenced my life dramatically. It began simply by playing the game I love most. Resulting in sitting on the sidelines, watching the season drift away. This experience affected my life intensely, yet still managed to make me a better person.

I know you care about something: a person, a place or an idea. I also know that, whatever it is you care about, you want to help that thing. You prefer to be of use and to act in service of that friend or concept, rather than against it. These two points together mean that some actions serve you more than others: the more aligned your cares and actions, the bigger the difference you make. You don’t need to candy-stripe or be nice to your strange uncle (or his weird kids): to make a difference you simply need to question the value of what you’re doing and do something about your answers.

We rarely need big things. As soon as someone starts talking about changing the world or radically reinventing something odds are good he’s talking from his ego, not his heart. The world does not change in a constant rate. We choose how to change it, and it depends on us if it will be changing for the better or for the worse. Since its inception, the Earth has been evolving , and it keeps evolving at the moment ; we all hope it evolves for the better.

Climate Change: Let's be Alert

Over the past century, human agricultural and industrial activities have led to the build up of carbon dioxide and other greenhouses gases. These gases are trapping yet more of the earth's outgoing radiation, leading to an enhanced greenhouse effect and a warmer earth.

Because carbon dioxide and other greenhouses gases are so long-lived in the atmosphere, enhanced greenhouse warming can be expected to persist for centuries. The impacts - many of which are effectively irreversible - will affect everyone on earth. Human health, patterns and intensity of precipitation, water and food supplies, coastal development, energy supplies, the viability of natural systems: all will be affected if Earth's climate continues to change.

Also due to the unpredictable nature and the limited knowledge we have about atmospheric processes and climate change
, scientists are having difficulty coming up with precise predictions about future climate change
